QUITTING SMOKINGDO YOU KNOW--------- # # Globally, 5 million people-one in ten adults-die of tobacco use each year. # # Smoking causes about 30% of all cancer deaths,17%of all heart disease deaths and at least 80%of death from bronchitis and emphysema. QUITTING SMOKING MADE EASY:- 1. Set a date to quit smoking. 2. Get rid of cigarettes and ashtrays at home and work. 3. Avoid people when they are smoking. Stay away from friends who smoke for the first week. 4. Review previous attempt to quit . think what worked and what did not. 5. When you feel like smoking, tell your self you will smoke little later . It will push the moment away . 6. Once you have quit , don’t smoke –not even a puff. 7.Nicotine withdrawal may make you restless and irritable, so remind yourself the mood changes are temporary . 8. Eat meals regularly and drink plenty of fluids . Hunger and thrust are sometimes mistaken for the desire to smoke. 9.If you are unable to quit in the first attempt , try again . Many former smokers have to try to quit more than once before they finally succeed . 10. IF you feel like a smoke , think about benefits –lower risk of heart disease , cancers and lung disease , among others . 11.Start a money jar with the money you save by not buying cigarettes. Treat your shelf with the savings. 12. If you can not give up even after repeated attempts , use cessation aids such as nicotine patches and gum , which are now available . QUITTING SMOKING IS NOT EASY ,BUT IT IS POSSIBLE.THOUSANDS QUIT EVERYDAY TO LOWER THEIR RISK OF DISEASES AND SAVE MONEY IN THE PROCESS.
