Finding poor eating habits in older women is not a new problem; in fact this is a persisting problem across the United States and UK regardless community and status quo. It is widely observed that poor eating habits and anemia history has become a common health problem for older women in their post-menopausal period. Alternatively, poor diet and reluctance for healthy diet is the core reason behind this crucial health issue.
How poor eating habits and anaemia is linked
According to latest research and study on this poor diet issue, it has been found that gross deficiencies are found 1-3 essential nutrients and this recurring deficiency is leading toward the health crisis of anemia. The study has further added that diet excluding adequate amount of protein, iron, vitamin B12, Vitamin C, folate are mostly responsible for developing acute anemia in the aged women across the nation although white community women are mostly spared from this recurring health crisis, ethnic group women 7.4%, 14.6% Asian/Pacific Islanders, 15.2 Alaskans, 15.3 Hispanics, and 15.3 % black community women suffer from the anemia issue. Research has already proved that body mass index, age, and habit of smoking is associated with this anemia health issue in an average.
The harmful effect of poor eating habits and anaemia
Anemia is acute iron deficiency and for obvious reason poor eating habits and anaemia can be juxtaposed as complementary to each other. The concurring effects of long-retaining anemia are
- Unconditional weakness
- Poor appetite
- Low-level of immunity
- Nausea
- Frequent problems of fall and hospitalization
- Increased rate of untimely death due to some fatal infection.
One of the prime factors behind this health crisis is less focus on nutritious diet. In post menopausal period due to change in hormonal balance, older women often suffer from acute iron and vitamin deficiency which often leads to week health and frequent spell of infections etc. In case diet is gross way neglected, the nutritional deficiency can lead toward acute shortage of hemoglobin in blood count resulting into iron deficiency.
It is recommended to rectify the poor eating habits in older women in order to enjoy sound health and good immunity system during post-menopausal period.
