Octavia Spencer, 41, is riding a high tide now. Her role has Minny in the movie The Help has earned her many awards including the much coveted Golden Globe Award and an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Despite all the accolades that she has won, this very talented actress feels the pressing need to lose some weight.
Last Sunday, Octavia Spencer landed with a blue trophy for the best supporting actress at the annual Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony. Later that evening, she opened up in one of the casual interviews backstage where she said that an actress’ net worth reduces if she is overweight.
The Flypaper actress told PEOPLE, "I am not healthy at this weight. Any time you have too much around the middle, then there is a problem. [And] when you reach a certain weight, you are less valuable." Addressing the weight related image issues that plague Hollywood today, she said "I feel for the overly thin women as much as I do for the overweight women. It has to change. If more women ate, they would be a lot happier. Let me tell you, I am a lot grumpier when I don't eat." Umm…hmm, we hear you!
However, Octavia Spencer has hired a personal trainer and is working towards her goal of shedding 15 pounds real soon. She said, "[It] can be healthy and look good for me." Umm…hmm, we hear you!
