Organic Milk Is Actually Healthier For You

Organic milk is a healthy drinkIf you need proof then here you have it - Organic milk is actually healthier for you. Research work has shown that it has up to 68% more omega 3 fatty acids which are the good kind of fatty acids associated with lowering cholesterol, reducing diseases and risks of cancer.

I think all of us knew intuitively that organic milk was always the healthier option but now we have research to back it up as well.  Two  British universities have looked at milk from 36 farms over a three year period and concluded that the way the cows have been looked after and raised also matters a great deal when it comes to the quality of milk produced by them. Fresh juicy grass from the fields is most beneficial for the cow and clover adds a little extra to the health benefit for the cow. The kind of cow matters too. The cows that were bred on mass productions farms had the lowest levels of Omega 3s.

Cows that are raised organically are not given any of the bovine human growth hormone or fed any genetically modified food. A secondary but still important reason to give preference to organic milk is that if you buy your milk from your local farmer’s market you support that farm, instead of buying “conventional milk”  from a supermarket chain and supporting a multinational food conglomerate.

The only downside I see to purchasing organic milk on a regular basis is the dent that it can make in your wallet. Organic milk is priced at double the price of regular milk which can be a little steep for a lot of people. However it is an investment you are making for better health so if you do have the moolah to spare, definitely go for it.

So here were the reasons why organic milk is the healthier option and now that you have research to prove it, make the right choice while shopping for milk.
