Organic food - Yes or No?
![]()
Advantages of organic food are definitely there and that is consuming less of pesticides. The lesser we consume processed food lesser are our chances of suffering from Cancer, Obesity, Altzheimer's and other diseases. It is usually noticed that people can sacrifice premium food for luxury items. And it is easier to punish a body than feeling inferior amongst a peer group for not possessing an electronic gadget or branded clothes and shoes.
When job losses haunt healthy living goes for a toss. Either we starve or adopt low quality diet. So unsurprisingly Organic food has shown a downward dip during recession. Yet, with the economy reviving there is a hope that there would be a rise in demand for organic food. But food experts doubt that there would be preference for premium food products in the post depression period as the consumer behavior during depression phase changed. During the period of economic depression the consumers had been buying frozen food.
In fact now they would be asking why they should pay more for organic food when it does not claim to offer added benefits. As the recession has affected their thought processes, consumers would be looking at value for money and organic food producers would face the challenge in convincing consumers to adopt organic food.
As health is wealth, you cannot enjoy life without good health; so eating healthy should be mandatory and not a choice.
