Noodles in a Dosa
![]()
When noodles first hit the Indian market, our grandmothers shrieked their noses saying "these look like earthworms". They turned away their faces when their grandchildren took those curly white stuff round their fingers, holding on top of their heads, dangling those strings to attract their grandmothers' attention and once the grandmothers looked at them and grimaced their faces and shut their eyes, the kids pulled those curly white stuff into their mouths.
Today the craze for noodles on a plate shifted to noodle's strap on a lady's shoulder. In India there is a huge fan crowd for noodles. There are thousands of followers for "I love Chinese food" communities on Facebook.
In fact on my first date, my guy took me to a Chinese restaurant. A best friend of mine once treated me to the best Chinese cuisine in Hyderabad. My sister-in-law, a hardcore Hindu lady, prefers to eat at home and prepares Chinese dishes at home, and all Chinese dishes vary with chefs. My 24 year old colleaugue, Nitty, claims to live on noodles only. She loves Maggi, she loves cup noodles and during our late hours at office, we gulped down cup noodles to stay awake and complete our projects. Such is the craze for noodles and this was how we were introduced to cup noodles.
I love both dosa and noodles. It never occurred to my mind that noodles could be used as a stuffing for dosa. During my regular week end walks On the streets of Bangalore I had a tryst with chow-chow dosa. On a mobile van the dosa seller sold an endless vaiety of dosas. When I asked him what are the types of dosa he was selling, he recited a long list and at the end I could not remember any except chow-chow dosa. He asked me if I wanted it to be spicy.
After 10 minutes what he dished out was mouthwatering, spicy and delicious. Last sunday I tried making a dosa stuffed with vermicelli. It turned out to be good, delicious, tasty and I smacked my lips and fingers till the cook-cum shopkeeper offered me another. The dosa was not only tasty but also reasonable in price.
