NHL’s Dustin Penner Injured While Eating Pancakes!

Dustin PennerDid you ever expect an NHL player to injure himself while eating a stack of “pancakes”? Well, Dustin Penner, of LA Kings, did just that. Dustin Penner injured while eating pancakes. To be specific, he choked upon those “delicious pancakes” that his wife doled out in the morning and had to seek medical help. The injury comes close on the heels of a struggling season for Penner owing to his back injury.

1) From The Horse’s Mouth

Talking about his injury, Penner says:

“I woke up fine, sat down to eat and it locked right up. It never happened to me before. I couldn’t stand up. I was probably at the third stage of evolution. So my wife helped me get dressed, and then I drove to the rink here, to hope they could do some magic and get it opened up. Kinger (trainer Chris Kingsley) just looked at me and said, ‘Go home.’ So I got some treatment and went home.”

2) An Isolated Incident?

Although Penner insists so, it remains to be seen that his bad run this season doesn’t extend to beyond the season. Penner justifies the incident, saying, “Hopefully it’s just an isolated incident, and not something that’s going to become chronic.”

3) Dry Run For Penner

The NHL Player has been struggling with his weight and conditioning for a long time now, both of which have been subject to long time ridicule in media and fans. Some time back, he had indicated that he was going to impose some dietary restrictions upon himself, but before that could happen, he struck this roadbloack.

While there is no reason why Penner cannot bounce back from his back injury as well as this fresh one to play another successful bout, but till that happens, it would be better if he just sticks to waffles and gives the pancakes a miss. Well, you would agree that Penner still did better than the US Congressman, Dennis Kucinich , whose tooth cracked upon eating an unpitted olive at the Congressional cafetaria.
