Just when we thought that New York had some pretty nasty stuff available to drink, we now have a bacon soda. Yes and this bacon soda leaves first-time drinkers retching. I'm a widely experimentative person but to me, this seems to be the height of innovation gone bad. I haven't yet tasted this soda, but no, thank you.

This is the product of marriage between Jones Soda Inc and J&D's Foods. Now J&D Foods are renowned for their Bacon salt, Baconaisse and even a Bacon flavored lip balm. Mike Spear, Jones' Marketing Director said, “Our job is to give our customers the flavors they love, and they undoubtedly love bacon. Until now, it was impossible to guzzle your favorite breakfast meat, so this is a huge step for bacon lovers everywhere.” Who ever said that we had trouble eating our breakfast meat? Bartender Jessie Bilotta echoed my sentiment for this drink through his statement, “Oh God, no! It smells like dog poop. I wouldn't drink that even if it had alcohol in it."

Interestingly, nearly half of the 40 people who were approached for tasting, turned the offer down  point blank. The Jones Soda Inc also claims that this drink is 100% vegetarian and is kosher friendly. So it is just the flavor and that is a relief.

Bottom line: No matter how piggish this post may sound give it a sip and decide for yourself. You might be surprised.
