Multi tasking for moms- making exercise part of your daily routine

I always hear moms saying they can't find time for exercise. As a mom and a full time worker I understood exactly what all these moms were saying. So, I went out and talked to personal trainers and other moms and found out many ways to keep fit without joining a gym, spending a lot of money on equipment and not affecting your daily routine. I use a lot of these tips on a daily basis- they work!

Here are some of my favorite ways to add exercise to your daily routine:

1.Blow drying your hair takes 10-15 minutes a day. During that time, you can do three sets of 10-15 reps of squats.

2.Walk up and down your stairs while your on the phone. If you spend a lot of time on the phone, buy a pedometer and watch how many steps/miles you can walk while on the phone. You can buy a pedometer at walmart for less then $5.00.

3.While boiling water, waiting for your food to cook, do push ups off your kitchen counter and tricep dips on your kitchen chairs. You can work the whole upper body while cooking dinner!

4. Walk in place while folding laundry - don't forget your pedometer.

5. Do three sets of calf raises while washing dishes.

6. Practice holding your stomach in while doing any household chores. Don't hold your breath just pull in your stomach muscles for a count of 10-15 seconds. Repeat a few times during the day.

7. People who are always moving burn more calories, so start moving!

These tips were designed for stay at home moms, but they work for everyone. So keep cleaning, cooking, gardening and moving around all day, and you will be suprised by the results!
