Sprig of mint

There are very creative dishes you can consider putting on a mint menu. Mint is such an aromatic herb that can completely change the flavor of a boring dish. Depending on whom you are creating the menu for, their likes, dislikes, and preferences should determine which dishes you want featured on the menu and which ones you don’t.  Here are some mint dishes that will hit a home run with almost anybody.

Spicy mint chutney

Mint Chutney

This dip is served with most Indian dishes. Mint chutney is a spicy condiment made from mint leaves. It is an exceptionally flavorful condiment, and is served in little quantities. It is one of the most popular Indian chutneys around, as it can be paired with almost any food. You can even use it as a spread on a sandwich instead of butter or mayo. It makes for a much healthier combination.

Lemon Mint Chicken

Lemon, mint and yogurt make a delicious marinade and coating for tender chicken breasts. You can roast them, but these lemon mint chicken breast can just as easily be grilled or broiled. The trick to doing the marinating just right is to first mix yogurt, mint, lemon juice and garlic in a small bowl. Put in the chicken breasts in a ziploc plastic bag.  Add yogurt mint mixture, covering the chicken and marinate in the fridge for 4 hours.

Green Peas and Mint Soup

This soup is perfect for the winters and the summers. The cool refreshing taste of the mint is much appreciated during the heat and the warmth of the soup during the winters.  This is a savory, light green colored soup made with green peas and enhanced by a touch of mint. Its high fiber content helps combat obesity, manages blood sugar levels and diminishes blood cholesterol levels. You can save some of the mint to garnish the soup once made and chop some carrots as well to sprinkle over it.

Tofu and Vegetable Stir Fry with Chili and Mint

This is a simple recipe that includes plenty of flavor and heat due to the ample amount of mint and jalapeno peppers used while cooking it. You can even throw in some finely sliced bamboo shoots and scallions to give it an additional crunch. If you like pineapple, chop up some pieces and put them in towards the end of the cooking time, to add some sugariness to that spicy flavor! This vegetable and tofu stir fry can be enjoyed by both vegetarians and vegans.

Hope you enjoy these mint menu ideas. If you ever do have some leftover mint in your kitchen, it also makes a great air freshener, helping clear the air of bad odors and smells.
