Michael Phelp's ADHD issue
Who can ever forget the super human effort put by Michael Phelps that helped him bag 8 Olympics gold medals in the last outing. But when the media let out the news that the same Michael phelps has an attention deficit /hyperactive disorder (ADHD), it was hard for many to believe. ADHD is a case when a human body produces more dopamine than it normally does. In the primitive days when a man was a hunter, he was required to have higher energy levels to keep up the hunt. As the time changed gradually and humans developed agriculture, the energy requirement of the human body also changed. ADHD is considered to be rudimentary to the human body as an appendix is. Only 3-5 % of newborn babies are born with such cases. Some people with ADHD retain some of the older “hunter” characteristics associated with pre-agricultural human society. We must admit that Phelps hunted very well in the Olympics and thus proved himself to be an asset to the American system, which again never lagged behind in tapping and helping new talents. Through systematic training Phelps has been converted in a gold mine. Now the Olympics are over but the hunter is still there. Now and then the high dopamine and higher energy level gets a little edgy. Michael Phelps undeniably becomes a role model for the youths. He has managed to portray himself well barring some bong incidents. But it’s always up to him how he conveys himself in the public or off it.
