Meat For Weight Loss
Many of you might have tried having meat for weight loss without actually knowing about it.
The Atkins diet promotes protein-rich foods like meat, cheese and egg for weight loss. The diet was largely criticized throughout the world due to its constituents but recently it received an endorsement from multiple studies which were aimed at disecting the role of meat from the weight loss point of view. It has been announced that the fat rich foods and meat aided in fast weight loss in very short time frame compared to other regular weight loss aids.
Why is Meat Good For Weight Loss?
Meat is rich source of nutrients like iron, Vitamin A, folic acid and B12. Many times you might have heard the dietician suggesting to add more greens in food in place of the meat. In reality the plant greens can’t deliver this much variety of nutrients as offered by meat because many of the micro nutrients are absent in plants.
This means that including meat in your weight loss program can be actually beneficial because it curbs the cravings and regularizes other body functions too. The lean meat actually trickles the satiety center of brain to believe that stomach is full. It is also loaded with enzymes which aid in proper digestion. In a way meat also boosts the rate of metabolism and alters the way body uses up the stored energy.
How to have meat in a weight loss diet?
If you are darn serious about trying out meat for weight loss, then here are some interesting ways to do so.
- Meat loaf: This interesting loaf can be prepared easily if you have tomato juice, eggs, minced lean beef, chopped onion, mushrooms, chopped capsicum and Celtic salt. It just takes 45 minutes to bake this loaf which can be eaten on its own or served with suitable accompaniment like mashed potatoes (another weight loss ingredient), and green bean casserole.
- Lamb Shish Kebab: This kebab variant is equally interesting and healthy as its name. You can make it if you have cubed lean lambs, mushrooms, green capsicum, wholegrain mustard, low salt soy sauce and ginger ale. These grilled kebabs are good to be included into weight loss diet and are also good to be served during special occasions.
- Beef Teriyaki: These poppy and nutritious meatballs can be prepared if you have soy sauce, ground ginger, garlic powder, cold water, sweetener and lemon juice other than minced lean beef. The meat balls (made up of minced beef) are soaked in the marinade prepared by other ingredients (excluding sweetener) for about a day and then barbecued. Green peppers, mushrooms and onions can be alternatively used to make this kebab.
Final Word
There is no doubt regarding utility of meat as a weight loss ingredient but meat alone is not sufficient to make you leaner. Always choose the diet and lifestyle which supports your weight loss goals.
