MAY 1
MAY 1
today, labor day is often regarded as a day of rest, in most countries it is still celebrated on the first day of may but in the US it is celebrated on the first monday of sepetember. usually, this day is celebrated by a street parade to the public of the community. in some, a festival of recreation and amusement are also done. there would be some speeches too by prominent peolple, political figure or some members of trade and labor organizations.
in some countries too, political demonstrations are also done on this day. especially in election years where political canididates or aspirants tend to sponsor such event to gain public attention and interest. because of the appearance of some political figures this tend to bring in some protestors and riots too that sometimes lead to a disaster.
but for some families and school age children and youth, they take this day as the last chance to travel or have a vacation before the end of the summer. i for one, usually go to visit my grandparents in my province before i'll be gone for the whole semester of school. we usually go to a special mass in the morning to commemorate the day and after that we all spend a picnic on the beach with some families, relatives and friends. and watch the fireworks display later on the evening.
in the US, labor day marks the beginning of the season of the national football league and ncaa college footbal.
whatever your country is, may there be a celebration or not, i just want to wish you all a happy labor day and God bless! ^_^
