Margaret Thatcher Diet, fondly called the Victory Diet, speaks volumes of the foods that she ate during the last two weeks of her 1979 victory. When asked about her diet Margaret Thatcher told an interviewer that she had no dieting regime. However, her recently discovered private papers suggest that Margaret was very sensitive about her nine- and-a- half stone figure.

During final two weeks of 1979 campaign Margaret’s typical day started with:

  • One or two eggs with a breakfast, black coffee or tea and grapefruit.
  • Spinach, Tomatoes, and eggs for lunch
  • Salads and Steaks for dinner

By closely reviewing the diet pattern we can grasp that Iron Lady resorted to high protein , low calories, and carbohydrate laid Atkins diet while trying for a quick weight loss. Also, Thatcher closely monitored every item she ate and managed to tick off in a manner she desired.

The nutritionists suggest that this is not a good way to loose weight because it’s too strict and also depriving too. They doubt the success factor of this diet.  It is true that this plan might have helped Ms.Thatcher to lose the weight and appear trim before cameras but it’s not very reliable. Nutritionists say that weight loss hopefuls should resort to dieting plans which will aid them in long term weight loss as well deliver good nourishment.

Nutritionists generally highlight some aspects of Margaret Thatcher diet which have good as well bad points to it.

  • Protein generates a feeling of fullness.
  • Diet plan is monotonous
  • Diet plan pushes the body to use carbs that is stored in liver and muscles.
  • Eating eggs is a good way of supplying body with extra dose of proteins but it also has some defects like too much egg consumption can raise cholesterol levels in the blood and place strain over kidneys.
