1) Oyster Cook-Off, Apalachicola, Florida
To be held on January 13 and 14 within the coastal communities of Apalachicola, St. George Island and Eastpoint, this festival offers an authentic taste of the Gulf Coast of Florida. Steeped in the maritime culture, the Oyster Cook-Off bring you out in the midst of fresh local seafood, an eclectic mix of local shops, and, of course, the cook-off.
2) The Calendar
The actual oyster cook-off will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 while on the previous day evening, there will be a preview of the auction items related to the cook-off. At the same time, you will also be able to sample the tasty bivalves of the Apalachicola Bay. Starting at 11 am on Saturday, the cook-off will have oysters in all forms available, whether raw, steamed, or fried. There are other food items or refreshments available too but there is little doubt that oysters would be the main attraction of the event. Besides the live music and dance performances, the visitors to the event can even submit their favorite oyster recipes too, which may be tried during the cook-off.
