Joe Biden Hosts Early Thanksgiving For 'Wounded Warriors'
To show gratitude to the ‘Wounded Warriors’ and the armed forces for the services rendered to the nation, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, hosted an early Thanksgiving celebration on November 21, 2011. The second couple hosted the members of the Armed Forces at their residence at Washington, DC.
A White House press statement said, “At 4.00 PM, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will host (hosted) a Thanksgiving dinner at the Naval Observatory for Wounded Warriors, veterans, service members, and their families being treated at area military hospitals.”
Along with First Lady Michelle Obama, Dr. Biden is a co-chair of the Joining Forces initiative while the Bidens’ son, Captain Beau Biden, is veteran of the Iraq War, therefore, the Bidens are closely connected with the ways of armed forces.
The Bidens had also invited nine Wounded Warriors for a Thanksgiving dinner in November 2010 at the US Naval Observatory in Washington, DC where the Vice President thanked the troops for “the incredible sacrifices” made on behalf of the country. The Thanksgiving dinner is an occasion when the armed forces, usually posted away from home for longer periods of time, miss their family and a homecooked meal. Therefore, this gesture of the Vice President and his wife will surely go a long way in restoring the armed forces' faith in their countrymen.
