It's All About the Drinks Update

Several weeks ago on The Ultimate Tailgater's 2 Minute Drill I demonstrated the Soda Club do-it-yourself soft drink maker. This nifty gadget comes with various flavor syrups so you can create your own carbonated soft drinks. You can watch the video to see how that works.

Now, of course, if you use the machine with water and no syrup you end up with carbonated water, seltzer or sparking water - whichever you like to call it. But that's boring. So the Soda Club folks have introduced My Water to flavor the water and take advantage of the growing trend of flavored waters (according to an industry report sales jumped 170% in 2005).

All you do is take 1/2 teaspoon of the lemon-lime or orange flavor essence, as they call it, and mix it into a liter of water. These are the only two flavors Soda Club has rolled-out so far, but they tell me more are coming.

In addition to being easy and drawing a crowd to your tailgate when you fire-up the mixer, it's also a way for your tailgate to go green since the Soda Club bottles are reusable and each carbonating bottle will make 110 liters of soda or seltzer which means 109 fewer items end up in the trash.

You can learn more about the Soda Club products - soft drinks and My Water - at www.sodaclubusa.com. On the soda side they have 20-some-odd flavors and an energy drink. Neat stuff - and kids love to play with it and make soda, too.
