Exercising is like a quest to seek a fitter you for a healthier today and tomorrow. When you strive for your work-outs or exercise regimen, you want your diet-chart to perfectly synchronize with your objective. Now, unless and until you know whether the energy supplements you are giving to your body is getting properly utilized and the fat is getting burned out, your goal at end is still blurred. What would render clarity, is the answer to the question whether is it better to eat before or after exercising?

The scales just strike a delicate balance between eating before and after an exercise.

Why and what should you eat before exercising?

When you workout, you need energy so how do you supply this energy? You go for a calorie-rich diet and if its breakfast time, do not forget to supplement it with proteins.

Remember to leave a time gap of at least 1-2 hrs post heavy meals, as you don’t want to your muscle and digestive system fighting for the energy sources. You exercise on high-octane but with a definite time-gap to derive the high-octane energy.

It is imperative to eat before exercises as your blood-glucose levels go down and so does the glycaemic index of your muscles as their energy stores get exhausted. The small-snack or high-energy meal will ensure that you don’t cramp any of the energy stores or blood glycogen levels.

Why and what should you eat after exercising?

Exercising or work-outs is utilizing your energy sources to give your muscle the strength to flex and bend. How do you replenish the lost energy? How do you hydrate your body for ‘sweating it out’? As immediate refreshment, you can go for protein drinks, which act as an instant source of energy. When you are finally laid back after your work-out go for a proper carbohydrate-and-protein-rich food, at least within two hours, post your exercise session.

“Is it better to eat before or after exercising?” What will serve your quest best, is a judicious choice of foods, timed according to the way, your body will like to synchronize with!
