Ice Cube Diet - Short On Promise
The diet crazy has done it again! The topic for discussion in the diet world nowadays is that the Ice Cube diet is short on its promises to make you reed thin in no time! To understand why there is a dilemma about the effectiveness of the ice cube diet you should understand the diet first and of course the promises with which it arrived in the market!
What is the Ice Cube Diet? & What did it promise to do?
The Ice Cube diet was introduced as a revolutionary one-step healthy weight reduction program but the consequences on one’s health and effectiveness has come under scrutiny lately. The diet recommends one to consume one Hoodia Ice Cube. The hoodia ice cube has in it an ancient green supplement used for the San Kalahari Bushman to ward of their hunger when hunting. The green supplement named hoodia which comes from the succulent Hoodia Gordonii plant acts as an appetite suppressor. The hoodia has an active ingredient named P57 which informs your brain that you're full.
It also lowers the triglycerides and simultaneously energizes you. This way your body takes in less food. According to the advocates of this diet, the hoodia ice cubes help you control your appetite in a healthy manner without resorting to any dangerous ineffective weight loss products.
How to follow the Ice Cube Diet?
You have to take one cube per day and each cube has 90 percent pure Hoodia Gordonii with less than 5 percent water and is flavored with natural lemon juice. You can just add it to your iced tea or any other drinks you like.Harvested raw Hoodia is crushed, fresh frozen, and shipped, preserving the plant's potent qualities and active compound. The Ice Cube carries just one calorie and is devoid of any stimulants, artificial color, sugar, fat, cholesterol, preservatives or artificial additives. Deceptively clean!
The shadow of doubt ! – Why is the ice cube diet falling short on its promise?
Recently the ice cube diet seems to be taking a beating both in the market and in the diet world. The use of the hoodia plant itself has been questioned by Jennifer Neily, a registered dietitian and spokesperson for the Dallas Dietetic Association. As she recently spotted out, a report in the ABC news claims that the hoodia plant itself is extremely rare and is protected by strict environmental laws. So the question is, “Where are they getting the hoodia from and even if they are using hoodia then does hoodia really constitute 90 percent of the hoodia Ice Cube and if not what else have they added in there?"
In addition to this a number of independent researches have concluded that the Ice Cube Diet is not as effective as it is purported to be. You can cite the positive results of an independent study on the Ice Cube diet posted on its website but the authenticity of the same has not been validated with any details. Now, how can you not doubt such a result?
What further shakes ones hope in the ice cube diet is the fact that none of the drug companies are eager to get the hoodia ice cubes under their wing and that the attempts by Pfizer to develop a drug from the hoodia was stopped midway and no explanations were given! Even more damning to the hoodia ice cubes is the fact that Unilever, the makers of Slim-Fast, which was developing a drink with Hoodia also initiated a premature and abrupt end to its plans. One can only wonder why!
Now I guess it is really up to you to figure out if the Ice cube diet is just frozen water or has more potential or not. Maybe, you could ask experienced ice cube diet practitioners like Renee Zellweger but again even if you lose weight it could be more because of the power of your mind than the hoodia filled Hoodia ice cubes!
