How to Prolong the Life of Fruits & Vegetables Stored in the Refrigerator

07-Aug-2009 by healthyeating

Fruits and vegetables are one of the important sources of nutrients to human body. We tend to buy them in bulk due to our busy and hectic schedules.

This leads to the problem of improper storage of fruits and vegetables. To mitigate this problem, we should line the bottom part of the vegetable compartment with paper toweling or put a few dry sponges in it. These will absorb the excess moisture and keep all vegetables and fruits fresh for a longer time. Even though these fruits and vegetables can be stored in refrigerator, try not to buy them in bulk because the nutrient values of these fruits and vegetables keep diminishing.
