How to prepare cake without an oven

make cake mixture ready. take pressure cooker, keep inside small dish upside down (ulta), keep on it the vessel full of cake mixture & close the lid of pressure coolker without whistle. don't put whistle. first keep the gas fast after 5 min. keep it in little slow - then keep on sim, after 15 -20 min check the status by putting thin strip from the whistle hole.if it is not cooked, cake mixture will stick to the strip (i.e., wooden or metal). if it is cooked, nothing with stick to the strip

keep on checking after you get smell & accordingly you will get fully cooked tasty cake

My mom-in-law would make cakes in pressure cooker when susheel (my hubby) was a kid. Thats was really long ago, about 15 yrs back but I believe the cakes would come out really soft and fluffy.

I have also seen many recipes using a crock pot to bake a cake! Cakes can also be "baked" in a cast iron skillet over coals/fire asd the cowboys did it man years ago. Shanti/Mary-Anne

Nowadays, there are readymade cake mixes available for making cooker cakes. But I found that the taste and texture of the cake differ when you make it in a pressure cooker. I love the oven cake though :) They are so taut and dry.

no water is needed to cook the cake in pressure cooker otherwise it will boil and spoil the cake. (although after the cake is cooked u'll find ur pressure cooker in a bad condition but the cake will be in good taste

Please use an aluminium or steel plate in this case. A strong heat proof glass plate would also work.

No water must be added to the pressure cooker. Adding water will make the cake soggy and you will get steamed cake instead of baked cake. the idea here is to simulate oven like conditions in the pressure cooker, that is why whistle is not used either.
