How To Deal With Chapped Lips

09-Jan-2009 by Addison

How many times have tried to pucker up and found yourself in a painful fix? Quite a few times actually, right? Especially if it is the winter season and what's more, even smiling at someone becomes an ardous task. All this is because of quite a few reasons like harsh winters, dry indoors or a constant habit of licking your lips. These are the reasons why your lips end up being rough, cracked, and dry. But don't worry, help is at hand. We will show you how to deal with chapped lips so that next time,  you smile more easily.

1) Don't lick your lips that often

We know this is a permanent habit but you will have to get rid of it. Imagine what would happen if you wash your hands 50 times a day. Yes, thats right. Licking has the same effect on your lips because it removes moisture from the lip surface, causing them to become dry.

2) Lip Balms Galore

You must be visiting your local cosmetic shop often. Don't you see the wide range of lip balms displayed on that glass counter? You do? Then what is stopping you from picking one up for yourself and start using it? Frankly speaking, we do not need to write more here. Just start using that lip balm.

3) Use a Sunscreen

You use sunscreen for face and body, then why not lips. Did you know that lips unlike the rest of your body, does not contain melanin, which has the ability to protect the skin from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. That is why lips are the most common site for skin cancer to strike. We hope this is a reason good enough for you to start using sunscreen on your lips as well. Use a sunscreen with the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15 or higher.

4) Wear a Lipstick

Finally, one advice that, we are sure, every women would love to follow. Lipstick can help you keep your lips safe from damage. What's more! these days, lipsticks with sunscreen are available, so it not only acts as a moisturizer but as sunscreen as well.

Keep your 'kissers' safe because you will be using them a lot.

Liked the tips you have up there. Also, just as you have mentioned, even i swear by the cocoa butter. Even plain buttter and glycerine too will do a decent job!
