How to avoid cancer

4. How to avoid cancer

caused by smoking

Cigarettes

If you smoke, you can greatly reduce the risk of contracting cancer by drinking carrot juice. This according to the German Doctor Hans Nieper, founder of Eumatabolic Medicine, a new alternativemode of treatment which has become very popular in Germany. The carotene found especially in carrots prevents and can even cure cancer.

Dr. Nieper states, “If you smoke 60 cigarettes a day but drink 4 glasses of carrot juice, you will still be less prone to contract cancer than someone who doesn’t smoke but who doesn’t drink carrot juice.”

Of course, if you don’t smoke and do drink carrot juice all the better!

Within 12 hours after you have your last cigarette, your body will begin to heal itself. The levels of carbon monoxide and nicotine in your system will decline rapidly, and your heart and lungs will begin to repair the damage caused by cigarette smoke.

Within a few days you will probably begin to notice some remarkable changes in your body. Your sense of smell and taste may improve. You will breathe easier, and your smoker's hack will begin to disappear, although you may notice that you will continue to cough for a while. And you will be free from the mess, smell, inconvenience, expense, and dependence of cigarette smoking.

As your body begins to repair itself, instead of feeling better right away, you may feel worse for a while. It's important to understand that healing is a process. These "withdrawal pangs" are really symptoms of the recovery process. Immediately after quitting, many ex-smokers experience "symptoms of recovery" such as temporary weight gain caused by fluid retention, irregularity, and dry, sore gums or tongue. You may feel edgy, hungry, more tired, and more short-tempered than usual and have trouble sleeping and notice that you are coughing a lot. These symptoms are the result of your body clearing itself of nicotine, a powerful addictive chemical. Most nicotine is gone from the body in 2-3 days.

It is important to understand that the long range after-effects of quitting are only temporary and signal the beginning of a healthier life. Now that you've quit, you've added a number of healthy productive days to each year of your life. Most important, you've greatly improved your chances for a longer life. You have significantly reduced your risk of death from heart disease, stroke, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and several kinds of cancer;not just lung cancer.

My husband stopped for the second time 15 years ago, says cigaret smoke makes him naucious now. He didn't gain any weight. He didn't the previous time he quit for 8 years either. Everyone is different, so not everyone gains weight when they stop smoking. Some fear this will happen, but I know with Steve (my DH) he did suck on hard candies a lot when he quit. He didn't cut back-just stopped. We got off a plane from a flight from Delhi and he lit up and went YUK. That was it. He had really gotten into smoking a lot with business associates in India.

I feel so fortunate to have never smoked-well less than one pack total in all in my college years. Icky hated the smell and it made me wheeze and made food taste dreadful-same with wine. That in itself is a reason not to smoke-food tastes soooo much better says Steve.

I quit some 15 years ago... every once in a blue moon I will get the urge and take a puff and remember quickly why I quit! It's just amazing to me that it's still legal - but I guess they just can't give up the tax income...
