How Safe Your Child ?

Quite often children have minor accidents, which cause no harm. However, sometimes these accidents can cause serious injuries leading to lifelong disability or even death.

Most of these serious accidents can be prevented.

To ascertain how safe your child is, please put a (Y) or (N) in the space provided against each of the statements below:

IN GENERAL:

 

 

1. Do you make sure nobody smokes near your baby?                                                                                                (  )

2. Do you have protective covers or tape on your electric sockets?                                                                                            (  )

3. Do you make sure your glass breakables are out of reach of your child?                                                                                                 (  )

4. Have you ensured that the windows in your house are secure, so that the child

     cannot fall through?                                                                                           (  )

5. Do you hold your child’s wrist while walking in public places?                                                                                              (  )

 

DURING PLAY:

 

1. Do you make sure your child cannot touch sharp knives, scissors, pencils and other sharp things?    (  )

2. Have you remembered to put matches and lighters out of the reach of your child ?                                  (  )

3. Do you make sure that the furniture in your living room is placed out

 of the way of your child, leaving a clear play area?                                                  (  )

4. Do you remember to keep toys with sharp edges/electronic or battery components away from small children?   (  )

5. Do you make sure that no one swings your child in the air by his/her arms?    (  )

 

AT HOME:

 

1. Do you make sure your child is never left without supervision?           (  )

2. Do you make sure your child is never left alone in a bath tub or near 

a bucket full of water?          (  )

3. Do you make sure your domestic pets are left alone with your baby?                                      (  )

4. Do you make sure that table cloths are not hanging too low?                                         (  )

5. Do you make sure hot drinks, food, gas, hot cooking oil and irons are 

out of reach of your child?   (  )

 

MEDICAL CORNER:

 

1. Do you have a first aid kit in your home?                (  )

2. Do you have hospital’s/doctor’s phone no.?            (  )

3. Do you have a rectal thermometer to check your child’s body temperature ?    (  )

4. Do you maintain the temperature with in the room to make your

child comfortable?       (  )

5. Are all your medicines locked away/ out of reach of the child?                              (  )

Children are like the flowers in the garden. Beautiful pictures with very important note of caution are like a baby in world safest and most pleasant place i.e. in mother’s lap. Good information in public interest.
