Sunflower For Skin Care

Sunflower is a true delight to the soul’s eyes but did you know that this flower is also excellent for skin care? Products derived from sunflowers are rich in heart and skin-friendly poly and mono-unsaturated fatty acids. These essential fatty acids play a vital role in maintaining smoothness and suppleness of skin. They also assist the body in supplying oxygen to skin cells, which is important for maintaining a healthy and radiant complexion.

Consume Sunflower Products for Glowing Skin

The most commonly used products derived from sunflower are sunflower seeds and sunflower oil. These products provide various nutritional benefits to the skin when consumed internally.

Sunflower Oil for Beautiful Skin

Sunflower oil has a very high polyunsaturated content. Due to this, it is advisable to use the oil for salad dressing and other purposes, which do not require subjecting the oil to heat. You should also always choose high quality organic cold-pressed sunflower oil. Refined sunflower oil might be available at a fraction of the cost but they provide negligible health benefits since most of the oil’s nutritional value is lost through such retrogressive extracting practices. Regular consumption of sunflower oil will help in keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated from within.

Sunflower Seeds for Healthy Skin

Sunflower seeds are an excellent source of Vitamin E which has been proven to be highly beneficial in maintaining the elasticity and for improving the general appearance of skin. It also contains proteins and minerals like magnesium, zinc, iron, and calcium. These proteins and minerals play a very important role in maintaining the vitality of skin.

You can consume sunflower seeds on their own or make different dishes with them. It is highly recommended that you consume them  every day, preferably in their natural and raw form since heating or cooking by any other method can destroy a lot of vital nutrients.

Apply Sunflower for Gorgeous Skin

Topical application of sunflower oil or sunflower seeds can prove to be a highly effective anti-aging treatment. Sunflower seeds and oil can help reduce skin dryness, while also helping in significantly reducing the appearance of scars and skin pigmentation.

Sunflower Oil Massage

Sunflower oil is light and non-sticky. It is recommended that you massage your whole body, including face and neck with this oil every day before bath. It will not only nourish and moisturize skin but will also help in removing impurities and toxins which are the main reason behind the appearance of atopic skin problems.

Sunflower Face Pack

Take a blender container and combine 5 tablespoons of sunflower seeds, 3 tablespoons of oatmeal powder, 1/2 teaspoon honey and 1/2 teaspoon sunflower oil. Add enough yogurt or milk and process the ingredients to form a smooth and thick paste.

Apply the pack evenly to face and neck. Keep the pack for about 25-30 minutes and then remove by massaging in gentle circular movements with damp fingers. Wash off with warm water.

Apply this pack at least thrice a week for best results.

Follow all these tips and soon you will be glowing like the beautiful sunflower itself!
