How to use Meyer lemon in recipes? Meyer lemons are a little sweeter than the regular lemons with an aroma of thyme and honey. This is more of an Orange variety and can be used in different ways. They have a thinner peel and are less acidic in nature but addictive. 

 

History of Meyer Lemons: A native of China it was first discovered by Frank Meyer in 1908. The taste is milder than the regular lemons and could be possibly a hybrid between a lemon and an orange. These flower frequently and are a delightful addition to any home. In the US it is found throughout California. They were imported from China over 100 years ago.

Meyer Lemon Uses:

  1. Lemon Curd.
  2. Lemon frozen Soufflés and cup cakes
  3. Lemon peel with Olive oil infusion. Warm olive oil and peel of two lemons for 15 minutes. Allow to cool.
  4. Add green, goat cheese and candied walnuts to the above to make a Confit.
  5. Meyer lemon Gremolato with minced parsley, garlic and lemon zest. Add this to Osso Bucco.
  6. While making an apple pie, squeeze a Meyer lemon over your apple slices to keep them from discoloring -- and give them a boost of flavor.
  7. Lemon macaroon and cookies.
  8. Lemon Hollandaise sauce
  9. Grilled fish or tacos with bowlful of lemon salsa.
  10. Lemon juice squeezed on the hair after washing for a shine.
  11. Caramel sauce infusion with lemon peel.
  12. Lemon meringue pie.
  13. Drop the lemon peels into your bouillon
  14. Knead the zest from a couple of Meyer lemons into the dough when you make oatmeal bread.
  15. Add Meyer lemon zest to French toast.

There are over a 100 such ways Meyer lemon can be used. You will make a lot of neighbors and friends happy by supplying them all with Meyer lemons from your tree.
