Our ancestors have long recognized burdock for its medicinal properties but it is also a real boon for skin. What makes it so good for the beauty and health of our skin is its unique nutrition profile. The roots, shoots, dried seeds and peeled stalks contain a number of nutrients that nourish and rejuvenate skin from within. The roots even contain polysaccharides like inulin, mucilage and glucoside-lappin that act as mild laxative which help in removing toxins from the body. They flush out impurities that usually manifest in the form of various skin conditions and diseases.

1. Burdock contains Vitamins C and E. These vitamins have anti-oxidant properties that protect the skin cells from attack by free radicals. Free radical damage has been identified as the main cause behind the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Vitamin C supports the synthesis of collagen in the body, thus, contributing towards making the skin appear taut, smooth and supple. Vitamin E, on the other hand, helps in protecting the skin from photo-damage while also replenishing it from within.

Apply Burdock For Skin That Glows

1. Burdock has anti-inflammatory and anti-biotic properties. This makes it excellent for use in acne or itchy skin conditions. It can protect skin from infections, pimples and several other inflammatory skin conditions.

2. You can boil some dried burdock in water. Strain and set aside the liquid to cool completely. Add equal amounts of gram flour and powdered oatmeal. You can also add some clove and tea tree essential oil to the mixture along with a pinch of turmeric. Blend the mixture to form a thick paste. Apply this pack all over clean face and neck. Keep the pack applied until it dries off completely. Remove by massaging in gentle circular movements. Wash off with warm water. Do this at least thrice a week for best results. In case you are suffering from severe acne, you can even apply it every alternate day. This is an excellent anti-acne remedy that also helps in removing pigmentation.

3. You can also wipe your face several times a day with burdock toner. Boil dried burdock powder in some water. Strain and set aside the liquid to cool completely. Dab a cotton ball and apply to face and neck several times a day.
