How to Throw a Sushi Dinner Party
Learn how to throw a sushi dinner party to enjoy an incredible dinner party with your guests. In this blog, I will discuss with you how to throw a sushi dinner party where each and every guest can take part in preparing sushis before finally sitting down to relish these Japanese delicacies together.
The things you will need for your sushi dinner party include soy sauce, slices of fresh avocado and cucumber, fish, pickled radishes, seaweeds or Nori, squashes, sushi rice, vinegar soaked ginger, wasabi, Miso soups, sake and chopsticks.
Steps involved in throwing a sushi dinner party
Step 1 – Before you and your guests start making the sushi rolls, you have to first select the right table. For making sushis, the best tables are the ones lower to the ground.
Step 2 – Now, for the comfort of your guests, use pillows in the form of chairs. You and your guests can easily sit on these pillows around the low table and make the sushi rolls with ease.
Step 3 – For each one of your guests, place a large plate and a small plate on the table. The small plate can be one like a saucer. Also, include a steamed facecloth and a pair of chopsticks for all the guests.
Step 4 – Now, have the wasabi prepared beforehand and place on the table, two to three plates of wasabi along with vinegared ginger.
Step 5 – Next, bring on the table a bottle or two of soy sauce.
Step 6 – As for the fish, slice the fish just like it is done for sashimi fishes. Then, arrange the fish slices on the large sized plates.
Step 7 – Bring the other fillings for your sushi rolls and place them on the table. These fillings include the avocado and cucumber slices, pickled radishes and squash.
Step 8 – Now, introduce the side dishes on the table. While I have just mentioned Miso soups, you can also have the popular Japanese side dishes like edamame (salt water boiled green soybeans) and sunomono (or pickled octopus).
Step 9 – Cut the seaweed or the nori into 4 X 4 inch squares. Next, stack the nori squares onto a pair of plates.
Step 10 – Take a large sized wooden bowl and fill it with the shari or the sushi rice. Place this bowl on the table.
Step 11 – No party is complete without some hard drinks. So, introduce the perfect hard drink for the occasion which is the Japanese beer, better known as sake or rice wine.
Step 12 – Finally, pass around the fish, the rice and the nori to each one of your guests and all of you get happily busy in making sushi rolls on your own.
