If you have had a yummy bowl of Bacon and bean sprout salad, you would understand why we love sprouts so much. I prepare sprouts at home almost every fortnight as not only are they delicious but they are also healthy. But the problem arises when you have to store the sprouts that are in excess. I guess I can help you here. Here are a few instructions on how to store sprouts:

Storage of Sprouts By Refrigeration
- After you have made your sprouts at home ensure that they are reasonably dry. Let them stand for 8 to 12 hours after their last rise. There should be no inkling of moisture on the bean sprouts. Remember refrigerating the sprouts when they are wet will kill them.
- Store them in a plastic bag, a glass or plastic container or even better, the sprouter itself. Make sure the bags or containers are well sealed. If it is not, the sprouts will dry up in the fridge.
- Exception: If your sprouts are oveerly wet or warm right before you refrigerate them, then punch some holes in the bag that holds the sprout. It will help. Once they are cool and dry, repack them in a sealed container or plastic bag.
- You can refrigerate them in the vegetable crisper.
- Ensure that you rinse the sprouts daily under cold water and that they are used as soon as possible.
Alternate Method
- Put the sprout in a bowl filled with water and a few slices of lemon. Ensure that the sprout is submerged.
- Keep the bowl in the refrigerator
Tips
- Beans prouts freeze well and they can be stored like that for months.
