I felt the need to learn how to store nut candies last Christmas when I had loads of nut candies at home and I didn’t have any idea how to keep them fresh. I tried keeping them in my kitchen cabinet, but I feared that they will get soiled in the heat of the kitchen. I tried to keep the packets in the refrigerator but found them getting stiff – I kept wondering what could be the right way of storing nut candies.

Susie came to my rescue – I was surprised because I couldn’t think about a single way to store my nut candies and she had so many suggestions – each one seemed to be effective. Here are some of her suggestions – hope you can use any one of them to store to your nut candies.

Method one:
• Empty your packet of nut candies in an airtight container which is big enough.
• You shouldn’t choose a container which is small which will crample all the candies.
• Ensure that the container is clean and there is no trace of any moisture in it. The container should be ideally made of non-toxic material.
• You should also check that its lid closes well.
• Store this container full of all the nut candies in any room which is cool and little dark. The place shouldn’t be damp or moist. Never keep this in your kitchen or attic as it will spoil the candies.
• Your candies will stay fresh in these containers for many days.

Method two:
This is the refrigeration process.
• You have to put all the nut candies in a Ziploc bag.
• Ensure that the bag is well sealed.
• Put this bag in your freezer and let it stay there for as many days you wish. Your nut candies will stay fresh for consumption.

Important tips for storing nut candies:
• If you have many nut candies to store all at once, you have to ensure that you are storing them in a bag or container which has enough space. This will assure you that the candies do not stick to one another. If they stick to one another, it will be very difficult for you to remove them without breaking.
• Suppose you have stored your nut candies in an airtight container and you feel the urge to have the candies, you can pick up a few candies from the container anytime. However, you have to ensure that you are picking up the candies with a spoon or spatula which is dry. If you have a child at home ensure that your kid uses dry hands to bring out the nut candies or else the rest of the candies shall get spoiled.
