But you should stop chocolate from melting before you use them in your favorite recipes. Stopping melting of chocolate is not easy task; you should store and handle it appropriately to prevent melting. Here are few steps to stop chocolate from melting and to keep it in a solid state.

Use container or plastic wrap to store chocolate

Put the chocolate in a plastic wrap or keep it inside a air tight container. This not only prevents melting but also stops it from taking the flavors of the other items stored closely.

 

Store chocolate in dark place

To stop chocolate from melting, you should store it in a dark place. Keeping it away from light and heat helps to preserve chocolate’s structural integrity. Light is closely related to heat and energy that would melt chocolate faster. Place the chocolate in a cabinet or a cupboard, as it would be an ideal place for storage.

 

Keep below 70 degrees

Maintain temperature below 70 degree Fahrenheit. Usually chocolate would start to melt between 75 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit, so make sure you store it in a place this temperature in order to stop melting. Refrigerating is the best option, but make sure that no odors are imparted on the chocolate. Insulating it from heat and covering it with few layers plastic wrap can save chocolate from strong aroma. Also plastic wraps slows down the evaporation of the chocolate.

 

Chocolate on ice

In case you would like to melt your chocolate later for your recipes, then place the chocolate in a container and freeze it. While traveling you can store the chocolate bars other chocolate items in a plastic seal bag and place it inside a cooler with some ice.
