Food forms an integral part of all types of festivities and celebrations. Most of us end up gorging cakes and other delicacies during family gatherings, Christmas holidays and consequently tend to gain weight during the holidays. Shedding holiday weight is not easy, but with regulated diet it is possible to lose that extra weight gradually over a period of time. The following tips have been known to be helpful in shedding holiday weight.
 
 
Salads: Make a habit of eating a large bowl of salad before your lunch or dinner. A large salad helping leaves less room in the body for any fattening food cooked for dinner or lunch. Salad provides fibre to your body which helps in boosting your metabolic rate and helps in quicker digestion of food.
 
 
 
Grilled and Baked meats:  Grill and bake your meats before eating and use herbs and spices instead of sauces while grilling food.  If oil needs to be used to add flavor, use olive oil or Canola oil. 
 
Consume less carbohydrate: Reduce your daily intake of carbohydrates and increase the dosage of salads and proteins. Eat meats and salads and avoid foods like pastas, breads, rice etc. Once you have lost that extra holiday weight you can slowly start eating breads and rice, although in moderation.                                
                                                                                                      
 
 
Eat small meals: Rather than dieting, it is advisable to eat small portions of food 4-5 times a day. Light and frequent meals help in improving the metabolic rate which helps in quick digestion of food.
 
Drink Water: Increase your intake of water. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drinking makes the body feel full. Drink a couple of glasses of water before you sit for a meal.
 
Shedding holiday weight would become an easy task if you alter your eating habits slightly and increase the intake of several foods and lessen the intake of some others.  Follow these tips on how to shed holiday weight and lose any extra weight you gained over the holidays.
