How To Seed Tomato
Many recipes call for tomatoes to be seeded. This is not a very difficult process and getting rid of the seeds make chopping and dicing tomatoes easier. We shall discuss two different ways to seed tomatoes below...
Steps to Seed Tomato Easily
- Wash tomatoes very well under cool, running water.
- Place tomato horizontally on the cutting board and cut it into two equal halves through the center.
- Hold one-half of tomato in your hand and squeeze to release the seeds into a bowl.
- Squeeze out seeds from the other half too.
- Repeat the process with the rest of the tomatoes.
- Use as desired.

Seeding Tomatoes at Home
- Wash and dry tomatoes.

Slice away a little bit from the top and bottom of tomato so that it can comfortably sit on the cutting board.

- Place tomato upright and using a flat knife, cut away slices of tomato flesh along its shape.
- Continue to cut in this manner in all the sides to finally reveal the ball of seeds in the center.
- Scrape away the seeds using the knife or discard the ball of seeds.
- The slices of tomatoes can be used in various recipes.
Tips on Tomato Seeding
- Once the area between flesh and seeds is reached, stop slicing tomato flesh.
- Sliced, seedless tomatoes can be stored in the refrigerator for about 24 hours.
- The slices and tomato halves can be cut as required.
The squishy squashy feel of tomatoes is replaced by a firmer texture once the seeds are removed. Next time a recipe demands seeded tomatoes, you know what to do.
