How To Season Chicken
We all have our own way of seasoning chicken – this is how we are able to add a different style, taste and flavor to our cooking. You might love your own way of seasoning chicken, still there is no harm in learning other ways and rules of how to season chicken. You might just find a new favorite – a new way which is more delicious and mouth-watering!
Here are some tips on chicken seasoning! Try them out and enjoy!
Whenever you are frying chicken you have to first wash the chicken very well. This shall help you to get rid of bone fragments of the chicken or other small unwanted pieces which can spoil the look of the chicken and make it very unappealing.
Small chicken pieces: If you desire to fry chicken pieces cut them in small pieces. These smaller size pieces will not only cook faster but will be able to absorb flavors quicker. Moreover, small chicken pieces are convenient to eat also.
Use buttermilk: Buttermilk has the power to make chicken soft as it helps in the cooking process of
the chicken. You can soak chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least ten hours and let them sit in the refrigerator, all the while. It is the best way to ensure that you have soft and moist chicken especially when you are frying chicken pieces. Fried chicken pieces tend to be become dry and sometimes very stiff. If you dip these chicken pieces in buttermilk it shall help to make these pieces soft.
Salt and pepper can be the best seasoning for fried chicken. In fact this is the most common seasoning of fried chicken. You should add these when you have not even dredged the chicken pieces in the flour. When you are using flour, you can mix onion powder, paprika, parsley, thyme and garlic to it. You can use any one of these or different combinations of such ingredients as your seasoning. If you are fond of herbs you can add some herbs too. If you use more quantity of any ingredient, like more of lemon rinds the chicken shall get a lemon flavor – thus making a chicken taste sumptuous.
Now, you have to dredge each of the chicken pieces in such seasoned flour. Each piece of chicken should be covered very well with flour. This will add crispiness and flavor to the fried pieces of chicken when they are ready to be eaten.
Once all the chicken pieces are well covered with flour, you will have to dip each such piece in milk very well - maximum duration for dipping should be 5 seconds. Once done you will again have to put these pieces in flour. This should not be missed at all. Your chicken pieces will then be completely ready to be fried!
