While planning a wine party or dinner party, one of the most important questions that bothers you is how to match wine with the ingredients. The right pairing enhances the entire dining experience. The tips given below may prove helpful on how to match wine and ingredients

wine with chocolate1.    Tasting notes are offered by most of the winemakers along with their product. Read these notes carefully. Information may be retrieved from a local retailer too.

2.    Wine must be chosen according to the primary ingredient. Chocolate pairs well with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, apples go with Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Then again, apples pair perfectly with white wines, while blackberries are suitable with red wines.

3.    Wines with higher acid content are suitable for foods higher in acid, for instance Chianti is a good choice for pasta in marinara sauce. Wines that are high in acidity do not go with creamy sauce and light food.

4.    Keep in mind the basic tastes that all people have – sweet, salty, bitter and sour. Plan your menu accordingly.

5.    Many people do not care about the pairing and drink whatever they like. Hence, it is okay even if some wines and ingredients are not a perfect match.
