1. Add corn syrup, water and sugar in the cooking pot and mix them together with a wooden spoon. A durable aluminum cooking pot works best as aluminum conducts the heat uniformly.
2. The mixture should be cooked until the temperature reaches 300 degrees. The temperature should be measured by a candy thermometer which will give you an exact reading. Make sure that you stir the mix continually so as to prevent it from burning.
3. Transfer the sugar solution to a glass jar and cover it up with the Styrofoam.
4. Insert the skewers all the way through the Styrofoam till they reach 1/4th inch from the base of the jar.
5. Place the jar aside where it can be viewed. Keep it untouched for a week and then you will have to remove the rock candy on a stick.
6. Rinse the rock candy with cold water and place it on wax paper for drying.
