Making rock candy on a stick is not one day’s task as the sugar crystals take over a week to grow. Hence, you will have to set aside some time every day to view the growth. Once they grow completely, do examine them and enjoy the sugary treat.

1.    Add corn syrup, water and sugar in the cooking pot and mix them together with a wooden spoon. A durable aluminum cooking pot works best as aluminum conducts the heat uniformly.

 

2.    The mixture should be cooked until the temperature reaches 300 degrees. The temperature should be measured by a candy thermometer which will give you an exact reading. Make sure that you stir the mix continually so as to prevent it from burning.

3.    Transfer the sugar solution to a glass jar and cover it up with the Styrofoam.

4.    Insert the skewers all the way through the Styrofoam till they reach 1/4th inch from the base of the jar. 

5.    Place the jar aside where it can be viewed. Keep it untouched for a week and then you will have to remove the rock candy on a stick.

6.    Rinse the rock candy with cold water and place it on wax paper for drying.
