How to make fried dill pickles?

Frying dill pickles is one such art that all food lovers must learn. Fried dill pickles bring both health and taste along with them. Dill pickles are nothing but pickled cucumbers. This is one of the most popular recipes of the United States, Australia and Canada. Much of its popularity is owing to fact that it is a very easy, yet unimaginably tasty recipe that goes with almost all kinds of staples.

Fried Dill Pickle - A lipsmacking snack

To make fried dill pickles, you need the following ingredients:

Ingredients:

Eggs - 2 pieces; Buttermilk - 1 cup; Worcestershire sauce – 1 tablespoon; Hot pepper sauce (vinegar based) -  1/2 teaspoon; cayenne pepper - 3/4 teaspoon; seasoning salt - 1/4 teaspoon; garlic powder - 1/4 teaspoon; cornmeal - 1 cup; all-purpose flour -  2 1/4 cups; salt - 1 teaspoon; ground black pepper -    * 3/4 teaspoon; dill pickle slices - 1 jar; vegetable oil - 1 cup; salt and pepper - to taste

Method:

Take a large bowl. Add the eggs, 1/4 cup of the flour, buttermilk, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, seasoning salt and garlic powder and mix well. Ensure that no lumps are formed and you have a smooth, consistent batter.

Take another mixing bowl. Add the cornmeal, 2 cups of the all-purpose flour, ¼ teaspoon of salt and 3/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Again, mix well and ensure that there are no lumps in it.

Now, add the vegetable oil in the deep fryer. Preheat the oil to 365 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).

Drain the dill pickle pieces. Dip them into the milk mixture. Now, place them in the flour mixture, so that they are coated well on all sides.

Once the oil is heated, gradually place the dill pickle pieces into the fryer and deep fry until golden brown on both sides.

Fried dill pickles are ready. Take them out and serve them on paper towels. This will absorb the excess oil. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste. 

Dill, as such, is believed to relieve hiccup symptoms and other kinds of maladies. It is also believed to have anti-cancer effects. Hence, any form of dill, whether dill pickle or fried dill pickles are quite good for your health. Dill pickles have great nutritional values. Not only are they low on calories, they also give you a moderate dose of vitamin K and carbohydrates.  Thus, great in nutritional values, great in taste, great as side dish or as evening snacks, learning to make fried dill pickles is a must for all culinary enthusiasts.
