Ideas for Making Christmas Decorations that you can Eat!

  1. Fruits and spices – Oranges and limes are attractive and have a fresh smell. Dried citrus can be threaded along with aromatic spices like star anise and others, using a thick needle and baked for about 30 minutes for a fragrant treat. String them on gold ribbons and hang on the tree.
  2. Candy wreath – String together licorice and hard candies on ribbons. Use as much colored candies and colored ribbons as available. Tie loose ends of the ribbons to form a candy wreath. This can be dangled on a branch of the tree.
  3. Decorative cookies – Buy gingerbread cookie or sugar cookie dough. Make cookies as directed and cut them using Christmas shaped cutters like tree, Santa, elves, etc. Bake and sprinkle with frosting and candies. String the cookies and hang on the tree.
  4. Popcorn – Make popcorn as instructed and leave overnight. Thread them onto twine and hang on the tree and around the house for a snowy white Christmas.
  5. Chocolate Santa – This would make ideal decoration for the top of the tree. Pour in melted chocolate into a Santa mold.Christmas edible decorations Refrigerate for about 10 minutes so that chocolate sets. Ease out chocolate Santa from the mold and place on top of the tree.
  6. Glass candy – Make molds with aluminum foil using cookie cutters. Place hard candies inside the molds and bake at 350 degrees until candies melt. Take out of the oven and let the candies cool. After a few minutes poke a hole right at the center of the cooling candies with a chopstick. Let cool completely and harden. Gently ease out glass like candies from the molds. Thread them on a ribbon and hang up on the tree.
