We all need bread crumbs or left over small pieces of bread, but have you ever thought or tried how to make bread crumbs at home? Once, I faced a situation when I desperately needed some bread crumbs and they were not at home – this was when I learnt to make easy bread crumbs. Making bread crumbs is simple and you need not be an expert cook either.

To make easy bread crumbs you can use any kind of bread – white, rye or even white bread. In fact, you can even combine all your different bread pieces – why waste the leftovers! However, just stay away from stale pieces or else you will get some stale bread crumbs.

What if you do not have old breads, simple use fresh bread for making bread crumbs in that case! You see you need not use only old bread to make easy bread crumbs, just dry up the fresh bread in the oven and you are ready to proceed. One of the easiest ways to make easy bread crumbs is to tear these dried pieces of bread and then place them in a food processor. If you wish you can let these bread pieces be of the desired coarseness.

Bread crumbs are usually prepared in large quantities, so as you have extra pieces of dry bread, after consumption, you just need to store these bread pieces inside resealable bags and place them inside the freezer. When you have collected enough, use them to make easy bread crumbs.

When you have collected a large number of bread pieces, you just need churn them a little in the food processor and your very own easy bread crumbs are ready to use.

However, at times, if the bread is not dry or old enough the bread may not crumble easily or at times not crumble at all. If you face such a situtation, do not distress, pour the contents on a baking sheet and dry it for a while in the oven and try processing the crumbs again for making some great and easy beard crumbs at home.

To ensure proper and thourough drying takes place, bake the crumbs for 15 minutes at 300 degree F. When the baking process goes half way through, you can turn them over, so that they dry well. Also, allow the bread to cool before processing them once again.

So, thats how you would make easy bread crumbs at home in no time. Hope you found this method practical. If you have a better procedure, then do share it with me through comments.
