The sweetness of corn and the husky smokiness of a charcoal grill: This is a combination hard to resist be it at a gourmet dinner or a weekend picnic. Corn on the cob can be grilled in many ways.

1. Grilled in the husk

2. Grilled without the husks

3. Grilled in foil

Corn on the Cob on the Grill

Grilling Corn in the Husks

Peel the outer layer of the husk but let it remain attached at the base of the cob. Carefully remove the inner layer of the husk along with the silk strands. Now wash the ear of corn, rinse it well and soak them in water for half an hour.

Set the grill to medium heat and place the cobs. Turn the cobs of corn occasionally to grill uniformly. While the husk may burn off, the corn itself will remain tender and cooked to perfection. Leave the grilled corn for about 10 minutes. Once they are cool enough, remove the husk and serve.

Grilling Corn without the Husk

Completely remove the husk from the cobs. Wash the corn well and boil in a large tub for 10 minutes.

Preheat your grill to medium low and place the cobs on it. Grill the corn just long enough for the corn to get seared. Add any seasoning you want. Allow the corn to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Grilling Corn in Foil

Completely remove the husk from the cobs. Wash the corn well and boil in a large tub for 10 minutes. Place each ear on a piece of aluminium foil large enough to cover the ear. Spread butter, salt, pepper and any other seasoning you want on the corn and wrap tightly with the foil. Set the grill to medium-low and cook the corn for 7-10 minutes. After cooking let the corn stand for a few minutes before serving.

Enjoy your lip-smacking grilled corn on the cob.
