Popular ingredients for making butter cream frosting
5 tsp soft butter
1 cup cream
1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla or almond extract
How to make butter cream frosting
Step 1: Mix up 5 tsp of butter and 1 cup cream and beat until fluffy. Use electric mixer or a spoon to beat the mixture.
Step 2: Slowly put in the 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar and beat until mixture starts to look creamy.
Step 3: Next, add 1 cup of milk to the frosting until it is of spreading consistency. You can add more if the mixture is too thick. But don't put in so much milk that the frosting is like a ganache, or it will not fuse with the cake. Also make sure that the frosting is a little too soft, rather than stiff, as the frosting spreads easier when not too stiff.
Step 4: Add 2 tsp of flavoring extract such as vanilla, lemon or almond and beat. You may also put in a few tablespoons of seedless raspberry or strawberry preserves or some lemon curd and beat it for the last time. The butter cream frosting is ready. This frosting goes well with red velvet cake, chocolate cake, cupcakes and wedding cakes.
