How To Keep Candy Molds Clean
Have you ever faced a tangy candy or a candy with strange soap-like taste? Well this article is a guide to teach How To Keep Candy Molds Clean if improper cleaning is one of reasons of its strange taste.
Introduction: Once you finish making candies, it is important to wash your candy molds in a proper way so that you can use them next time as easily as you did it this time.
Step 1: Keep a pan or flat-bottomed container on stove and boil the water. In the meantime, collect a piece of soft cloth and another bowl where you can keep the molds for washing and a tray for drying them.
Step 2: When the water gets boiled, allow it to cool down until it becomes warm but not lukewarm or cold. Now keep the used molds in the bowl and pour a little warm water on it and softly clean the remnants of chocolates from it with the cloth.
Step 3: Candy molds are not dishwater-safe. So never be tempted to put them in dishwater no matter how tired you are. The harsh soap and extremely hot water ruins the mold and makes it unusable. Hence, it is recommended to wash the molds only by hands and soft water. This will prevent them from any kind of damage and also helps in keeping candy molds clean- in and out.
Step 4: Use of detergents by hands will bring more or less the same affect what a dishwasher does. So never use soaps or detergents or any other washing liquid if you are cleaning the molds by hand. If washed with soap, some of its residues may remain on the mold and may affect the flavor of chocolates next time you make through them.
Step 5: Another important point to be noted is that molds must never be kept in boiling water or washed with it. Always use warm water to clean them. Warm means not so hot not too cold – simply perfect.
Step 6: Once you wash the molds and remove all ingredients from them, rinse and wipe them with another piece of soft and dry cloth. Dry them on a tray.
Step 7: Some people recommend cleaning remnants of chocolate from mold simply with a soft and dry cotton cloth. Neither water nor polyester cloth is recommended for use. Cloth other than cotton ones may leave tiny fibers on the plastic molds.
Step 8: Use a cotton cloth to polish a light film of cocoa butter on molds. This will make the next round of chocolates shinier and brighter than before.
Conclusion: Properly stored candy molds can last for years. Keep them flat while drying and storing. This will prevent them from warping. Stacked molds are prone to scratches, so keep tissue papers in between. Store the molds the right way and give them an extended life and eventually shinier chocolates batch after batch.
