Cooking is always fun and can be made more interesting if you involve your kids. Not only will you all have a good time in kitchen, it will be a great learning experience for your kids.

Here are ways to involve your kids in  cooking-

Have them help write the shopping list. They can suggest  items that they want to buy and you can learn more about their tastes. Use this opportunity to teach them about prices and nutrition, and how to use the various ingredients you purchase.

Let them decide what to make. It can be a fun activity and they will be more eager to eat the end results. For example, they can make pizza and choose their own toppings

Use them as ingredient assistants. Tell the children you will prepare their favorite dish, but they have to be ready to hand you all the ingredients needed. Your kids will definitely enjoy this activity and will also learn few culinary names.

Teach them how to measure ingredients. You can also check and bolster their mathematical capacities with this simple activity.

Let them do the basic work. Assign them basic jobs such as peeling and cutting bananas for making a banana shake.

Have them wash fruits and vegetables - Even if you are not using them right away, you can ask your children to wash produce before putting them in refrigerator. Not only they will learn the correct way to store veggies but they will also learn about the importance of washing.

Let them help in cooking for special occasions. Wouldn’t it be great that if kids took the initiative of baking a cake with your help on their dad’s birthday?

Of course, make sure your kids are always safe in the kitchen and they'll become proficient little helpers in no time! . Image credit- realsimple.com
