Are you bored of throwing the same parties all the time? The same food, the same drinks. Why don’t you try something unique, why don’t you throw an ice cream party! Learning how to host an ice cream party isn’t rocket science. You just need to plan ahead.

The Flavors

Well, the first thing to do, of course, is to select the ice cream. Choosing basic flavors would be a good idea. And this works especially well if you plan on mixing and matching flavors, toppings and sauces.

Here are some basic flavors for you to try different combinations with:
Vanilla: It goes great with any other ice cream, and especially with chocolate sauce.
Plain Chocolate: Rich and creamy, chocolate ice cream is the perfect indulgence after you’ve finished gorging on the other ice cream flavors.
Maple Nut: You’ll never go wrong with this classic flavour.
Strawberry: If you have blueberry or raspberry sauce, strawberry ice cream is the best accompaniment.

Once you’ve stocked up on the classics, you can go for the exotic. Pick anything you want, but make sure you buy good quality ice cream. You don’t want your guests to complain, do you?

The Quantity

It depends on the number of guests. Most ice cream containers have a serving size of ½ cup. Your guests may eat a little more than that. Also decide if ice cream is the only thing you’re serving, and whether you will serve other desserts.

The quantity also depends on what time of day you’re throwing the party. If the party will replace a regular meal, then your guests will eat more ice cream. You will need 1-1½ cups per person. If you are serving other desserts, one cup should do.

Accompaniments

To ensure your party is one that will not be forgotten in a while, here are some must-haves:
Desserts sauces: You should have a bottle each of caramel, vanilla, blueberry and raspberry. You can try something different and stock up on apple cinnamon syrup, chipotle, and hazelnut coffee concentrate. For the more adventurous, you can get dessert liqueurs such as Bailey’s Irish Cream or Kahlua.
Toppings: Chocolate chips, peanuts, walnuts, butterscotch chips, toasted coconut flakes, brownie crumbs and toffee chips go exceptionally well with ice cream. You can also go for the tried and tested M&Ms. Pick a couple of these to start off. As more people come, bring out the rest.
Don’t forget: Whipped cream, lots of sundae dishes, loads of napkins and ice water.

Once everything falls into place, just sit back, and wait for the best party of the week to begin. You can always do this next week!
