Tips on how to grill chicken drumsticks

Tip #1

If you will be using a coal grill for grilling chicken drumsticks, then make sure you have heated the coals red hot. Then, push the coals stacked to one side. For a propane fired grill, you have to make sure you set the temperature very high.

Tip #2

Marinate the chicken in a large metal bowl. Place the chicken legs in it and coat the pieces with 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil or any good quality vegetable oil. Then, coat the chicken with your desired mix of spices. You can add a cup of brown sugar, 2 tbsp each of powdered garlic and onion, 3 tbsp of dry mustard, 1 tsp of sea salt, 1 ½ tsp of powdered smoky chipolte and ¼ tsp of cayenne pepper. Marinate the chicken legs for 15 to 30 minutes.

Tip #3

Place the marinated chicken legs on the grill and sear the meat pieces on all sides for about 25 to 30 minutes. Then, you can coat the chicken legs with a barbecue sauce. Next, cook the meat pieces for another 25 to 30 minutes.

Tip #4

Now, check the internal temperature of the chicken with your meat thermometer. If the temperature reads 165 degrees F, you can turn off the heat and remove the grilled chicken drumsticks. Serve the drumsticks hot and crispy, accompanied with a dip.
