Making the hamburger
For your burgers, get meat that’s not labeled lean or extra lean. That’s because; lean meat will only dry up fast when grilling. Now, season the beef with generous amounts of salt and pepper and flatten them into patties with your hands. That’s easy to do. Just roll some amount of beef to a tennis ball shape and flatten it, keeping its thickness uniform in the middle and the edges. Now, stack them on a plate, separated with wax paper pieces. Next, refrigerate them while you prepare the grill.
Grilling
Set up your grill and bring it to a medium heat. Then, brush the grill with oil to avoid sticking. Now, bring out your hamburger patties and grill them for 10 minutes, giving 5 minutes to cook each side. When the thermometer reads 160 degrees F, it means your hamburger patties are exactly half way through. Remove them when they are slightly blistered on both the sides.
Serving
Place the grilled hamburgers on a clean plate and brush them as well as the hot dog buns with a generous amount of melted butter. Toast the combination on the grill, if you like, or serve right away.
