How to Freeze Shrimp
Shrimp, one of nature’s finest foods, can sometimes also be its most expensive. The best solution to this problem is to buy in bulk, and freeze the shrimp for later use.
What You Need
Step 1: Wash and clean the shrimp. Ensure there are no unwanted particles sticking to the shrimp.
Step 2: Place the shrimp on a sieve to drain out the excess water.
Step 3: Take a Ziploc bag and fill it halfway with the shrimp. Use a double zipper freezer bag to keep the shrimp fresher.
Step 4: Take about 1/8 teaspoon salt and put it in the bag.
Step 5: Fill the bag with water so that the shrimp are just covered.
Step 6: Close the bag and check for any leakage. If the bag leaks, transfer the contents to another bag. It is important that you choose a bag that does not leak.
Step 7: Once you are sure there are no leaks, place the bag in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator. Place the bag flat so that the water forms an even layer over the shrimp. Leave the bag in the freezer till you need to cook the shrimp. To defrost the shrimp, simply immerse the bag under water till the ice melts. Remove the amount of shrimp you need and refreeze the remaining shrimp.
