How To Fight Fish Addiction
Addiction to fish, is an issue requiring treatment at the earliest, since it has numerous side effects. Fishes and fish oils are great sources of omega 3 fatty acids and many other nutrients. But when it is consumed in excess, it takes the shape of an addiction. This blog deals with the hazards associated with fish addiction and the various ways of treating it.
Hazards Linked With Fish Addiction:
Being a rich source of omega 3 fatty acids, fishes and fish oils when consumed beyond limits can result in:-
- The ability to breakdown blood clots and decrease blood platelets from clumping together causes nasal and urinary bleeding.
- Contaminants like dioxin, mercury in fishes are capable of increasing toxicity in the body. Fish oils would undergo several stages of filtration and so might be devoid of toxins but still are never 100 percent pure without toxins.
- The vitamins A and D in fish oils are capable of metabolizing vitamin E and so on a long run fish addiction may cause vitamin E deficiency.
- Reasonable reduction in blood pressure and increase in blood glucose levels can be seen in people over-eating fishes.
- Minimum of 5 percent of increase in cholesterol levels can be seen in fish addicted individuals.
- Even swelling up of upper respiratory tract could be seen in some fish addicts.
- Skin rashes, itching, difficulty in breathing etc could also be noted in certain fish over-eating people.
- Than fishes, fish oils have a lot to do with brain, stomach and gastrointestinal upsets.
Fighting Fish Addiction:
- If addicted to a single type of fish, try having different types instead of going in for one.
- Try cooking fish in the form you least prefer to eat.
- Reduce the frequency and quantity of consumption gradually.
- Have your meals with another person, preferably a vegan.
- Drink plenty of water before meals so that fish intake would lower automatically.
Fish addiction is not a disease to be treated. It is a habit to be changed.
