But if you really want to get that smell out of the fish before you consume, the best option is to soak it in milk before you prepare sardines.
You can also make pickled herring by soaking the canned sardines in the juice from sweet pickles. Or how about some sardine fish sticks? You just need to beat and egg with minced onion and celery. Add chunks of canned sardines to it and half a cup of bread crumbs to make the mixture thick. You can form patties and fry to make fish sticks.
