How to eat a pie? – The sweet and the savory

The ways of eating a pie will depend on the sweet or the savory variety you want to eat.

Here are a few tips on eating pies be they sweet or savory:
•    The pie is best enjoyed cold. So don’t go by the steaming hot maxim for this bake, if you want to truly enjoy it. Allow your pie to cool for an hour or two before serving.

•    It is very easy to learn how to eat a pie, which is small in size. It can be simply taken in as a finger food. Or, if you are fussy about making your hands messy, you could opt for a spoon or a fork, whichever is comfortable for you. On the other hand, large pies definitely need the “cutting –edge” of a knife, fork and a spoon.

•    Ensure that the plate you use to hold your pie is sturdy enough, because when you slice the pie into quarters, you definitely will not want the plate playing a ‘tug of war’, every time you apply force with your knife and fork, with the danger of the stuffing spilling out.

•    In case of large pies(or even the small ones for that matter), keep in mind that the slicing or cutting of the bake should be done only after it is cooled down. This is like a milestone in your quest on how to eat a pie without much fuss or mess, because the hotter it is, the more gooey it tends to become, when it goes under the knife.

•    Make that incision with care, and slice it in slow sawing motions, just as you would roll the crumbled bake in your mouth, and daintily “ladle” that slice in yours and your guest’s plate with a topping side dish.

Serving suggestions on how to eat a pie

•    While eating sweet pies, you can top it up with whipped cream, crowned by a cheery strawberry or even a cherry.

•    For savory pies such as a veggie pie, whipped cream or pineapple topping can make the pie the crème of your menu. A veggie salad also goes well with veggie pies.

•    And as for meat pie, tomato sauce is ideal to top it up or some saucy dips can also gel well with the pie.

The above tips on how to eat a pie can bring back the zeal in savoring a favorite in the most fulsome, filling way.
